Salvation Army – Christmas Center Opening

The Salvation Army

Doing the Most Good(sm)

What a wonderful time we had this morning at the opening of this year’s Salvation Army Christmas Center. For those of you that don’t know about the Christmas Center, it is the location where needy families in the greater Richmond area come each year to receive the generous gifts provided by donations to various local charities. Including:

Salvation Army Christmas Center - opening prayer

Opening Prayer

The Christmas Center location often changes from year to year, however this year’s location is the best I’ve seen yet. Chesterfield Towne Center generously donated the use of a vacant department store (formerly Dillards). The spacious layout, easy access, and easy navigation inside make for a very inviting and comfortable experience. Kudos to Captains David & Dawn Worthy, and all the Salvation Army volunteers.

Salvation Army Christmas Center Ribbon Cutting

Ribbon Cutting

After an opening prayer and the ribbon cutting, needy families that signed up for Christmas assistance with the Salvation Army are escorted by volunteers (many from Capital One) to each area to receive their Christmas gifts, beginning with a coat from our Coats for Kids campaign.

Angel Tree Bicycles

One of the gift areas that brings the most joy, and tears to many, is the bicycle section.  Brand new bicycles are generously donated to the Salvation Army / NBC12 Angel Tree program to fulfill the Christmas wishes of hundreds of needy children.  Totally awesome.

We at Puritan Cleaners are honored to participate with such wonderful people in the greater Richmond area in helping families; from all of those who give, to all the volunteers,
and especially to the Salvation Army Richmond Area Command.

Merry Christmas Richmond and Thank You
