Leopards Have Spots, Our Clothes Shouldn’t

Lunch – getting a bite to eat and washing it down with a favorite drink. Then drip drip. Sauce, soda, or salad dressing goes right down the front.

In today’s fast paced, eat-on-the-run life, keeping our favorite garments spot and stain free
can sometimes be a daunting task. Whether it’s that favorite silk blouse, Polo shirt, dress shirt,
or pants, keeping a few simple things in mind will help keep your clothes (and you) looking
great.

Rule #1 – Dab Dab Don’t Scrub Scrub

If you’ve dripped, spilled, or splashed something on your clothing, the first thing to do is remove as much of it as possible while it’s still fresh. Put a paper towel or white cotton towel underneath the spot, and dab the spot by pressing down. Don’t rub or scrub the spot. Scrubbing can damage the fabric or remove the color.

Rule #2 – Remember Rule #1

Rule #3 – Don’t Iron a Soiled Garment

Heat of any kind will cause the spot to set in and become a stain. This is especially true of those invisible spills that contain sugar. When sugar is heated, it will caramelize and turn brown, causing the spot to become visible, and often permanent.

Suggestion #1 – Bring it to Puritan Cleaners

Try to get the garment cleaned within 24-48 hours to prevent the spot from becoming a stain. We have has spot removal specialists that will treat the spot prior to cleaning to prevent staining.

Remember to tell us as much as you can about the soil, especially if it’s invisible; how long it’s been there, if anyone tried to clean it, and what it is: oil, sauce, etc.

Together we can keep your clothes looking newer longer.
