Matt’s Great 8 Tailgate – 2010
Our 2nd annual Matt’s Great 8 Tailgate at the Puritan Staples Mill location on April 21 was a huge success! Thanks to everyone who participated & donated to our 100,000 Meals Campaign to provide nourishing meals to kids in Central Virginia through the Central Virginia Food Bank.
Matt DiNardo, weather anchor of WRIC TV8’s Good Morning Richmond, conducted live remote televised cut-ins all day as visitors of all ages came by to enjoy free coffee and Krispy Kreme doughnuts in the morning, and grilled hot dogs and hamburgers during the day.
Live music was provided by the Spiritual Harmonizers and Offering, a local non-profit band. Richmond Flying Squirrels players Mike Ambort and Andy D’Alessio came by for a visit, and the ladies from Girlfriend We Gotta Talk radio show did an interview with Puritan’s Gary Glover too. We also be handed out free Qdoba entree coupons to folks who gave a donation.
More importantly, we collected a lot of food and funds for the Central Virginia Foodbank. At the 2010 Tailgate, we raised enough donations for 28,384 meals. Again, thank you to everyone who participated & donated, and we look forward to doing it again next Spring!
