Our Coats for Kids program is a labor of love for our team of over 170 employees. Every year since 1988 kind people in our community have donated coats of all shapes and sizes at their neighborhood Puritan Cleaners.  Every November, in addition to cleaning and pressing thousands of garments, our team stays late and […]

National Dry Cleaning Day – March 3rd

We celebrate National Dry Cleaning Day on March 3rd every year! Dry cleaning is a process that’s been around for centuries, but the process as we know it was pioneered by an African-American tradesman and abolitionist in New York City by the name of Thomas Jennings. Mr. Jennings was born to a free family in […]

  • Where’d That Stain Come From?

Your favorite perfumes or colognes make you ‘scent’-sational, but their high alcohol content can stain your garments. When you apply the fragrance, the alcohol evaporates quickly, leaving the oil scent base.  If your clothing comes in contact with the alcohol before it’s dry, a chemical reaction can occur, leaving faded or discolored spots. On white […]

  • What if you were hungry?

FeedMore distributes over 75,000 lbs. of food EVERY DAY and the need for food increases in the summer months as children are out of school. Every Spring we partner with our community to collect funds and food donations for FeedMore and the Central Virginia Food Bank.   Our goal each year is to collect enough funds and food to […]

In addition to being named the Best Dry Cleaner in Richmond, VA for over 2 decades and one of America's Best Cleaners, we're also committed to doing our part for our neighborhood, and we are proud of our community programs. Through our signature program, Puritan Cleaners Coats For Kids, we've collected well over 300,000 coats for the Salvation Army since we started in 1988. We've also partnered with the Central Virginia Food Bank to raise over 400,000 meals through our 100K Meals program. We also have programs that support our troops, the Junior Women's League, and the Cancer Society. We love the Richmond community, and appreciate your support.

Extend the Life of Your Clothing Investments

Quality clothing does cost more, and with the right care, the cost-per-wear can be lower than cheaper garments. Dry cleaning prolongs the life by removing stains before they oxidize. When a spill or spot isn’t treated right away, it will oxidize over time and turn yellowish or brown in color.  Once a stain has ‘set’ it is difficult to […]

Superbowl Sunday

It’s time for super snacks and the Superbowl is the ultimate party food event for fans everywhere. We can’t help with the game’s outcome, but we can help get the stains out from salsa explosions, wing sauce drips or out of bounds cheese dip. Don’t give up on stains and spills on your favorite jersey, shirt, or […]

Kids Helping Kids – Northstar Academy Donates to Coats For Kids

We visited one of our favorite stops when we went out to Northstar Academy in the west end. These folks had nearly 100% student participation in their coat drive this year, and they always come up with great motivational ideas and a great number of coats too.
